The immediate past Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa has formally handed over the mantle of leadership to the newly appointed CDS, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
This is coming few hours after the Senate approval of Oluyede’s appointment alongside four other newly appointed service chiefs.
NPO Reported that President Bola Tinubu had last week reshuffled the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The changes saw Oluyede, redeployed as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) from Chief of Army Staff which he occupied since the demise of former Army Chief Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
With the redeployment of Oluyede, Tinubu announced the appointment of Maj. Gen. Waidi Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff.
In the same vein, the President announced the appointment of Air Vice Marshall Sunday Kelvin Aneke as the new Chief of Air Staff while Rear Admiral Iddi Abass emerged as the new Chief of Naval Staff.
However, Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Parker Undiendeye was retained as the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Meanwhile, Oluyede’s redeployment had meant end of the road for Musa who had been in the helm of the defence affairs since his appointment by Tinubu on June 19, 2023.
In the wake of the reshuffling, the Defence Headquarters in Abuja held a handing over ceremony for the new CDS, Oluyede.
The ongoing glamourous event saw the Nigerian Army Brigade woo audience with their performance and the handing over ceremony continues.
