The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested social media personality and luxury goods dealer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, in connection with a cocaine shipment weighing 184.5 kilogrammes seized from a courier company in Lagos.
He was arrested at the boarding gate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on August 13, 2026, in an attempt to leave Nigeria for Paris .
The NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (retd.), disclosed this on Tuesday, noting that the seizure is the largest quantity of cocaine intercepted through a courier company in Nigeria.
According to Marwa, the seizure follows an investigation into an international drug trafficking network allegedly using Nigeria as a transit point for cocaine shipments destined for the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.
The agency said the investigation began after its operatives intercepted the 184.5kg cocaine consignment concealed for export through a courier logistics channel in Lagos.
Marwa subsequently ordered a Special Investigation Team to trace those behind the shipment and uncover the wider network.
The NDLEA said the cartel expected to make up to N39 billion from the consignment through its international distribution network.
Investigators, working with the courier company, uncovered a network of intermediary firms and individuals involved in processing and moving the drugs.
One of those arrested was Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a staff member of the logistics company who the agency said had maintained a direct relationship with the cartel’s Nigerian coordinator.
According to the NDLEA, Kehinde processed consignments for the syndicate and routed them to the UK, other European countries and Asia in exchange for cash.
The agency identified KC Luxury as the Nigerian arrowhead of the cartel.
Marwa said the suspect had publicly presented himself as a social media influencer and businessman dealing in gold, jewellery and luxury goods, while allegedly using the persona to conceal his involvement in the drug trade.
Following his arrest at the airport, operatives reportedly recovered €7,750, £2,800 and N100,000 in cash, as well as expensive jewellery.
A search of his luxury apartment in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, also led to the recovery of exotic vehicles, according to the NDLEA.
The agency said further investigation revealed that the syndicate allegedly used false identities to conceal the actual consignors of drug shipments and employed financial facilitators to move billions of naira.
Marwa also said the network had criminal contacts in the UK, with some suspected members already arrested by British authorities in connection with the cartel.
He linked the investigation to other recent operations against transnational drug networks, including the dismantling of the Switzerland-based Simon Amadi cartel and two Nigerian-Mexican methamphetamine syndicates operating clandestine laboratories in Ogun and Oyo states.
He also noted that drug trafficking groups had increasingly turned to courier and logistics companies as an alternative to seaports and airports, where security scrutiny had intensified.
He warned individuals using social media influence, luxury brands and glamorous lifestyles as cover for drug trafficking that the agency would continue to pursue them.
