The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has expressed optimism about improved surveillance as the Nigerian Air Force launched two new helicopters.
This was disclosed in a statement via NEMA’s X handle on Friday.
The induction ceremony of the two newly acquired Agusta 109 Trekker helicopter held at the Presidential Air Fleet Apron in Abuja, and was presided over by Vice President, Kashim Shettima with the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, in attendance.
According to the statement, the addition of these state-of-the-art helicopters is expected to bolster the capabilities of the Nigerian Air Force in areas such as aerial surveillance, rapid response, and emergency operations.
As the head of the nation’s disaster management agency, Mrs. Umar’s presence at the event underscores NEMA’s strategic interest in enhanced air mobility and inter-agency collaboration, particularly during disaster response and humanitarian missions.
The ceremony brought together top government officials, senior military officers, and key stakeholders in the nation’s security and emergency management architecture, highlighting the federal government’s continued investment in strengthening national defense and emergency preparedness.
