A fully loaded truck, suffering brake failure, lost control and collided with several mini buses and passengers
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has reacted to the recent Imo State road crash.
Recall that the road accident involving a Mack truck with Reg no: KWL 857 YE, occurred along the Imo State University Junction, left many injured after hitting four buses on Saturday.
The agency wrote via its X account that its Owerri Operations Office Emergency Response Team, alongside other stakeholders attended to the scene swiftly.
The statement revealed that up to 10 persons died with an unknown number of persons sustaining various injuries.
‘On the night of May 18, 2024, a tragic road crash occurred at the busy Imo State University (IMSU) junction along Okigwe-Owerri road.
“In response, the NEMA Owerri Operations Office Emergency Response Team , along with other stakeholders, promptly attended to the scene.
“A fully loaded truck, suffering brake failure, lost control and collided with several mini buses and passengers.
“The accident resulted in fatality of about 10 individuals, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were transported to FMC Owerri.
“The debris was cleared, restoring vehicular movement.
