Speaks of Corruption, Insensitivity
By Halimah Olamide
Veteran Nigerian singer, Eedrees Abdulkareem has taken on the Bola Tinubu administration in a newly released song.
Tittled EMILOKAN, the singer laments the poor economy, hardships in the country and the alleged insensitivity of the people in the saddle.
Kareem, known for his “Nigeria Jagajaga” song years ago and Mr. Lecturer, also accused the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enorch Adeboye of keeping silent in the face of alleged widespread hardship.
The singer said Adeboye was very vocal during the Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari’s administrations. He demanded for the reason Adeboye has lost his voice in spite of the grinding economic woes under Tinubu.
The singer sang about the rising and unbearable cost of living noting that Nigerians are finding it hard to survive.
While accusing government of telling Nigerians to make sacrifice, he demanded why the same sacrifice is not noticeable among the ruling elite.
He said EMILOKAN (It’s my turn) has turned to EBILOKAN (it’s time for hunger).
“Emilokan” was a phrase associated with Tinubu during his campaign when he insisted it was his turn to be the president of Nigeria.
He accused the Tinubu government of wasteful spendings on the renovation of government officials’s residences.
He said Tinubu helped Buhari to get to power only to destroy Nigeria.
He said now that Tinubu is in power, he should bring Buhari to justice.
He said its mere propaganda to want to excuse Buhari from the mess under his government especially on the printing of Naira notes by the Godwin Emefiele led Central Bank of Nigeria.
