Napoli’s Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen was voted African Men player of the year while Barcelona’s Nigeria Striker Asisat Oshoala was also voted African Female player of the year on Monday during a ceremony organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Osimhen, an Italian champion and quarter finalist in the Champions League with his club, beat Liverpool’s Egypt attacker Mohamed Salah and Paris Saint-Germain’s Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi to the award.
Victor Osimhen became the first Nigerian player to win this prestigious award after 23 year, Osimhen had an amazing season with Napoli with Napoli winning the Italian league and also ending the season as the highest goal scorer and also finishing as the 8th best male player in the world.
Asisat Oshoala continue her record breaking dominance as she won the prestigious award for a record breaking 6th time , she had a good World Cup outing with Nigeria at the this year’s Fifa Women’s World cup held in Australia and New Zealand and also Won Treble with Barcelona Female team and was also named the 20th best female player in the world.
