As Residents Accuse DPO of Conspiring with Assailants

No fewer than five people are feared dead in clash by suspected rival camps of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Union, NURTW, attempting to take over the Naira and Kobo garage in Ikire area of Osun State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when the armed gang stormed the park and engaged in fierce fire exchange.
The gun duel threw the town into panic as residents and commuters scampered for safety.
Unfortunately, some commuters and motorists were caught in the crossfire.
Graphic videos shared on X showed a man lying lifeless on the ground while another man suspected to be a driver was left bloodied after being shot in the head in his car.
Meanwhile, another clip showed some residents alleging that the police division in the town conspired with a faction of the armed gang who were seen accompanied by some officers.
NPO Reports contacted the Osun Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, who in a telephone conversation with our correspondent disclosed that the police are currently at the scene of the clash and are verifying the claims surrounding the attack.
‘I’m at Ikire presently now with the Commissioner of Police. We will revert to the public once we verify the facts.’ He said.
The clash is coming barely a week after the 2026 Osun Governorship Election.
Prior to the election, the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, had banned the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, at motor parks across the state.
