At least, about 30 persons have been arrested by men of the Ogun Command of the Nigerian Police Force after the burning of many banks branches in Shagamu, Ogun State on Monday.
Newly posted Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, disclosed this in Shagamu when he conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the violence that led to the destruction of many banks.
“We have arrested about 30 persons,” Mba said on Tuesday.
The Commissioner of Police said his men moved in fast enough to stop the carnage which could have been more than what residents witnessed.
He said the suspects would be charged to court.

Some angry residents set ablaze banks as part of the anger against the ongoing implementation of the new Naira policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Many Nigerians sleep at ATM galleries to collect the new notes which are scarce.
