The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has impounded 13 cows over alleged illegal grazing.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the OYRLEA’s Chairperson, Justice Aderonke Aderemi (Rtd).
According to Aderonke, 11 out of the 13 cows were impounded within the Marvellous Estate, Akobo Ojurin area of the state following multiple petitions from the residents.
OYRLEA, in a coordinated operation alongside security operatives impounded the other two cows along the road.
“The enforcement team discovered cattle being reared within the residential community.
“Despite claims that the animals were confined, officers found clear evidence of open grazing in violation of existing state regulations. 11 cows were impounded at the first location.

“While exiting the estate, the team intercepted another group openly grazing cattle on public paths. Two (2) additional cows were seized, bringing the total impounded animals to thirteen (13).” Aderonke wrote.
The OYRLEA boss directed the owners of the impounded cattle to report to the authority within seven days for the payment of the statutory fines into the government’s coffers and be guided on further necessary steps permitted by the State Government.
Aderonke reiterated the authority’s zero tolerance for infractions that threaten public safety and community order.
“OYRLEA remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety, peace, and environmental order of all communities across Oyo State.” She said.
