Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP),Rabiu Kwankwaso has said that the G-5 governors also nicknamed as“Integrity Group” in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are doing the right thing by demanding for equity, justice and fairness within the party.
The Integrity Group formerly known as G-5 governors adopted the name at a meeting in Lagos on Sunday.
The five PDP governors which comprise of Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu are demanding for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorcha Ayu claiming that the party chairman and the presidential candidate of the can’t come from the same zone.
Commending the governors on Monday at the inauguration of the Mgbutanwo internal road in Rivers State, the former governor of Kano state said the PDP governors are doing the right thing.
He added that, the governors have really proven to Nigerians that they have “integrity”
“I believe they are people of integrity and of course, posterity will judge them based on the action they take, and I’m so happy that they are doing the right thing by consulting talking,” Kwankwaso said.
He described Wike as a member of Kwankwansiya adding it’s not neccesarily for someone to put on red cap before he could be referred to as a member of the movement

“Your Excellency, thank you for standing firm, for saying the truth at any given time, not minding what they are thinking.
“Your excellency, without putting on a red cap, you are a member of Kwankwassiya any day, any time. Because in Kwankwansiyya, you don’t have to put on a red cap.
“Many people in this country have got their red caps in their hearts, and I believe you are one of us; that is why I believe that those of us from Kano have a lot of respect for you,” he said
The former Kano governor recalled the reason behind his decision to dumped the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC.
Giving the details of his experience in the PDP and APC, the former Minister of Defense said he left PDP when he thought APC was the best for Nigerians but he was disappointed by what he experienced in APC.
“It’s unfortunate that we found ourselves in a party that we helped to build. I was in PDP like you. In 1998, I had the opportunity of being part of the founding fathers of the PDP and we did extremely well, especially in our first eight years. Unfortunately, as time went on, many things started to go wrong,” said Kwankwaso
“And unfortunately, some of us saw what you didn’t see in time. That was why we decided in 2013/2014, to bring some changes in the political architecture of this country. That was why we formed the APC, believing that the party would be a progressive party that would sort out the issues that we were concerned about as Nigerians at that particular time.
“Unfortunately, this party proved over time, in the opinion of many people, especially in the PDP, to believe that it is worse than the PDP itself.
“And that was how they were putting their eggs in one basket, believing that the election was going to be between bad and very bad.
“But even then, we had some Islands. We were part of the islands in Kano, and we performed extremely well.
He lauded Wike for giving back to his people by fulfilling his campaign promises adding that the governor is indeed “Mr Project”
“Of course, one of the islands is Rivers state where we have a very distinguished leader who believed in his people,” he said
“Anytime I come to Rivers, I find brand-new projects and programmes. This is somebody who has worked so much I’ma education. And when we were coming to this venue, he showed me the law school that was commissioned recently. And you can go on and on in terms of projects and programmed.
“And that it is why not only the people of Rivers state that call him Mr Project; all of us also acknowledge him as Mr Project in this country.”
The presidential candidate used the opportunity to highlight some of his plans for Nigerians if elected next year.
