Nigerian afrobeat singer and one of the members of the now defunct PSquare duo, Peter Okoye, has released an old video of fight with his estranged twin brother, Paul Okoye, as crisis within the family worsens.
Peter would on Monday take to his Instagram handle where he dropped a video of him and Paul engaging in a heated argument during a meeting alongside their elder brother, Jude Okoye, and others in 2015.
As seen in the clip, the duo could be seen calling out each with Paul slamming Jude before attempting to go physical against his brother.
Recall that the PSquare had in 2024 broke up again after barely two years of reuniting since their first breakup in 2015.
Peter, who adopted a new stage name, Mr.P, after the second breakup, accused Paul of being selfish.
Meanwhile, the core factor behind the unsettling rift between the duo still dated back to 2015 which was affirmed by Peter’s release of the old video.
Speaking on the clip, Peter recounted what led to the fight in the video which he linked to dispute over their properties.
‘Now this video is just making sense to me. After EFCC told me everything based on their investigation, this particular incident started making sense to. Why the sudden attack.
‘Let me tell you guys what happened in that video. Some about 2014, We started splitting our properties. We split these properties with Jude. We split every property we have three ways with Jude. I heard some people say Jude invested in PSquare.
‘Jude was just a student like us. In fact, we all graduated the same time. Jude was doing nothing. Jude should prove if he had an employment or doing anything.
‘The person that sponsored us as a brother was our eldest brother, Henry. I don’t want to tell you guys what he is going through today because of this same Jude. Another story for another time.
‘So, what happened, we have a house in America then Square Valley in Omole, two wings duplex. We all decided to share our properties into three.
‘While we were building this particular house in Parkview, the lawyer drafted a resolution for us, everybody signed. The resolution in the sense that till these three new houses we are building becomes habitable, Peter now owns the house in America, Jude now owns Omole Square villa right wing, Paul now owns the left wing.
‘Now, because Jude took the particular one we were living on, Paul took the empty side. I don’t know why he did that. Now because Peter’s house looks as if it has a little bit more value, he said I will balance Paul 25 or 30 million. No problem.
‘They prepared the documents and we all signed and shared the properties three ways which we were not even supposed to. Another story for another time.
‘A Dollar went from like about 180 that time to about 300 and something. Guess what that means, Peter’s property now has value because now let’s say the house is worth 500,000 Dollars, If I sell the house and decide to change the money, you know what that means. Jude and Paul were not themselves.’ He said.
The feud, according to Peter, began when he was informed about the plot to sell the US house alloted to him.
‘Then I had a long trip. I travelled to Turkey to stay with Samuel Eto’o. He is my friend. I stayed there for like almost two months. I was there when I got a phone call from our assistant manager that we have a show in two days’ time.
‘I packed my bags and travelled. Touching down in Lagos, I got a message from our US caretaker that Peter why did you put the house in America for sale without telling me.
‘I said which house. He said the same apartment. I said no let me just get home because we have a show. By the time I got home all them were on their way.
‘I rushed and got to the venue. At the backstage, I met Paul. I said ‘Paul, no vex, did you have any idea on who put the house in America on sale?
‘He said which house? He said he doesn’t know what I’m talking about. I went to meet Jude and he said commot for my front now before I slap you.
‘Guys, this is backstage where my colleagues, friends, and clients are. You say you go slap me. Next thing, he wanted to rush me, and some artistes had to hold him.
‘We almost started fighting. I stood on the table and said ‘guy you are fired’. He you fire me for wetin? Paul started laughing. He said ‘fire motor make I see na’
‘While that was happening, they have already introduced us in stage. They gave me the mic and some of my bands and friends said I should just go, but I dropped the mic and left that venue. I went to the car and started posting. I tweeted that Jude has been fired.
‘This is what Paul did. He uploaded a picture on Instagram, a picture that Jude was sitting down with me standing on the left and him on the right. Paul cut me off and replaced me with a recording studio.’ The singer said.
Peter further recounted how Jude refused to give him money when his lawyer advised him to pay the N30 million he agreed to give Paul.
‘Long story short, I called my lawyer. He said ‘you know what Peter, just pay the N30 million to Paul and everything is sorted.’ Then I contacted Jude that I needed N30 million. Already he knew what I wanted to use it for. He refused to give me.’ He said.
The singer recalled how he had to get the money from his wife.
