The 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has formally joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) alongside the former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
NPO earlier Reported Obi and Kwankwaso’s arrival at the NDC’s national headquarters in Abuja on Sunday ahead of their political alignment with the party few hours after the former’s resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
While Kwankwaso did not formally announce his resignation from the ADC, his membership registration with the NDC signalled the end of his brief stint with the ADC.
The ex-Kano governor declared his defection to the NDC alongside Obi.
While addressing the NDC members after being welcomed to the party, Obi held that their motive of joining the party is to build a country where opportunities are accessible to all.
He however urged the members against initiating litigation cases over internal crisis which he earlier cited in his resignation letter as part of the reasons he left the ADC.
“We want to build a country where a child of nobody can be somebody without knowing anybody. That is what we want to do.
“We are pleading with you, we want to have peace. We want to build the party. We don’t want cases.
“We are pleading with the judiciary to please end cases of parties so we can face the job of building a new Nigeria that is possible.” He said.
The ex-Anambra governor further harped on the need to rebuild Nigeria as he disclosed that Bangladesh, a third-world developing country, just purchased 14 new aircrafts while Nigeria boasts of no national carrier.
He again pleaded against litigation cases in the party.
“Just yesterday, I saw a third world developing country, Bangladesh, ordered for the highest order of planes, 14 new planes at $3,7 billion. Our country has no national carrier.
“We want to start building. Please let there be no litigation. Party members, please don’t go to court. We are not lawyers. What we want is a party.” Obi said,
