The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate operating around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state.
This was disclosed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Adebisi, the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following credible intelligence.
Adebisi said the suspects, who are between the ages of 22 and 30, were apprehended at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, after sustained intelligence gathering by the operatives.
According to her, a search of their hideout led to the recovery of 25 mobile phones, two laptops, a gold necklace, some earrings and three cutlasses.
The image maker said the suspects were currently in police custody and assisting investigators with the case.
“Efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the gang who may be connected to the criminal activities,” she said.
The spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fatai Tijani, commended the VCRU operatives for their swift response and intelligence-led investigation.
“Tijani also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantle criminal networks across the state and ensure the safety and security of residents, ” she said.
Adebisi urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
