The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly vandalising telecommunication cables in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Nnabike Uzolo and 28-year-old Chino Mgbenya.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abeokuta.
According to Babaseyi, the Ota Divisional Police Headquarters received intelligence from a member of the public at about 7:00 a.m. on July 12 that two men were allegedly vandalising telecommunication mast cables in the Mine area of Ota.
He said detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where Uzolo and Mgbenya were arrested in connection with the alleged offence.
“Following a thorough investigation, the suspects were charged to court for the alleged offence,” he said.
Babaseyi reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure, warning that anyone found engaging in acts of vandalism would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He added that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, remains committed to sustaining aggressive operational strategies against criminality in the state, in line with the strategic policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
