The Lagos State Police Command has reviewed security measures at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, following a viral video showing suspected bandits near the institution.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani, led a security assessment visit to the university on Wednesday
NPO Reports that a footage had gone viral on socal media, showing some masked individuals coming out of a nearby forest into the school premises.
During the visit, Tijani inspected the university’s existing security arrangements alongside senior operational officers and held discussions with the management on ways to strengthen safety measures around the campus.
The police commissioner urged the institution to improve its perimeter security and enhance access control systems to prevent possible threats and safeguard students, employees and visitors.
He stressed the importance of proactive security measures and warned against actions that could undermine existing safety structures.
Tijani also encouraged members of the university community to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime.
As part of efforts to boost security around the Lekki axis, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), in collaboration with the state government, has deployed surveillance drones to the area.
The drones are expected to improve aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities around the university environment.
Tijani reassured the university management, parents, students and staff of the police command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies through the command’s emergency lines.
