The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Asaba-based content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, over alleged rape of 20-year-old lady, Favour Agbro.
NPO earlier Reported the ordeal of Agbro who committed suicide days after being lured to a hotel and raped by Ogbonna who lured her under the guise of teaching her Facebook and TikTok monetisation.
Human rights activist, Israel Joe, who announced the death of the lady in a post shared on X on Wednesday also disclosed the arrest of the content creator after petitioning the police.
The Delta Police Command confirmed the arrest of Ogbonna in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.
According to Edafe, the 40-year-old content creator was apprehended following a petition received by the Command.
The late Agbro was alleged to have on the 1st of June 2026 travelled to Asaba at the invitation of the suspect, who had offered to train her in TikTok and Facebook monetisation, a programme he reportedly promoted through his social media platform.
Upon her arrival in Asaba, the suspect allegedly took her to a hotel, where he allegedly raped her and subjected her to physical violence which threw into depression and subsequently led to her death.
“She later returned home visibly distressed and disclosed the incident to her parents.
“In the aftermath of the alleged assault, the deceased made a video recording in which she recounted her experience and the emotional distress she suffered following the incident.
“She subsequently committed suicide by ingesting a toxic substance and later died despite efforts to save her life.” The police stated.
Upon receipt of the petition, the Delta Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, directed the Area Command Effurun to carry out an immediate and thorough investigation into the allegations.
Acting on the directive, operatives of the Command swiftly commenced investigation, leading to the arrest of Ogbonna
During preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly made useful statements to the Police, while further investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
The Police Commissioner assured the family of the deceased and the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and that no aspect of the allegations will be overlooked.
He further reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring that the investigation is conducted professionally and that appropriate legal action is taken in accordance with the law.
