The All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra Governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, has emerged the latest victim of campaign blooper caught in live coverage as he claimed having more factories in the state when speaking over the rise in number of baby factories in the state.
Ukachukwu had on Wednesday night appeared on Television Continental’s (TVC) Politics Tonight programme to discuss the affairs of the state ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.
While speaking on issues affecting the state, the programme host asked the APC candidate for his assessment on the increasing rate of baby factories in Anambra.
“You must have also heard of the increasing rate of baby factories and there are fresh incident of violence and encroachment of farmlands.
“What is your assessment on the rising case of baby factories and illegal abduction rate in Anambra state.” the journalist asked.
As captured in a video shared on X on Thursday, Ukachukwu appeared to have misinterpreted the question as he disclosed having a greater number of factories in the state.
He however decried the increase in the rate of insecurity in the state, disclosing that some of his factories have been locked following the abduction of some expatriates working for hm.
“Honestly, let me tell you this. I see things in national televisions and some of them are not true. Nobody has more number of factories in Anambra state than myself and my family.
“And on that note, I’m telling you right now that I can’t remember in recent times that many industries are hanging up in Anambra state. No. Insecurity has killed many factories.
“As a matter of fact, my factory is under locks and keys as they kidnapped my six expatriates. I used to have about 70 something expatriates working for me.” He said.
The governorship candidate’s blunder brought back the memory of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, who had in one of his campaign last year promised to bring insecurity to the state.
Like Okpebholo, Ukachukwu’s goof was also noticed by netizens who had since trolled him.
