Residents of Ikire were on Monday left in dismay as policemen took away the remains of man killed by stray bullet during the clash between factions of the National Road Transport Workers, NURTW, at the Naira and Kobo Motor Park in Osun state.
NPO Reported that the two NURTW factions had yesterday clashed in a bid to take over the motor park on Monday.
The clash which also saw an intervention from the officers of the Ikire Police Division led to the death of two men who were caught in crossfire.
Graphics videos from the scene showed one of the deceased victims identified as Saheed Akinrole lying lifeless on the ground while the other victims, a passenger, was stuck to the front seat of a jeep where he the stray bullet caught him in the head.
However, the residents and eyewitnesses of the clash accused the police of being responsible for the killing, alleging that the Ikire Divisional Police Officer, Bamidele Olatona, was the one who opened fire on arrival at the park.
As seen in a separate video shared on X, the residents called out the police DPO as policemen evacuate the body of the deceased victims from the scene.
While the body of Akinrole was already transferred into the police van, the body of the deceased passenger was carefully evacuated from the jeep by the police who covered his face with his blood-soaked shirt before being transferred into the police van as well.
