The senator representing Osun West senatorial district in the National Assembly, Adelere Oriolowo, has demanded a sum of N500m from the state government in Osun accusing the government of damaging his reputation.
Oriolowo said reports that he made away with some equipment belonging to the state agricultural agency were meant to tarnish his name.
The senator said no belonging of the state government is in his possession adding that his name is at stake in the development.
Oriolowo, a retired permanent secretary was also the Project Coordinator of the World Bank funded Rural Access Mobility Programme which constructed roads into rural areas for the purposes of boosting agriculture and enhancing rural living.
He was elected into the National Assembly in 2019.
“I have just instructed my lawyer to state government demanding a letter of apology within seven days and to also pay the sum of N500m as compensation for the unquantifiable damage done to my name and integrity,” Oriolowo told reporters.
An asset recovery of the state set up by the new governor, Ademola Adeleke, had named Oriolowo as one of those who made away with state owned facilities.

The same committee had accused former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, his wife Kafayat, and Deputy Gboyega Alabi of making away with vehicles worth billions of Naira.
Oriolowo said, “I was taken aback as to why a committee of the State would jettison the principle of fair hearing by inviting me to defend whatever report they must have gotten. I also reliably gathered that this said committee failed to submit their report to their principal before going to the public to malign my name.
“The said equipment which belongs to the then OSSADEP was in existence when I left the agency 15 years ago.”
