Nigerian social media influencer, Isaac Fayose, has attributed the spate of vote buying observed at the just concluded 2025 Anambra Gubernatorial election to poverty and hunger.
NPO Reported that the election which saw the All Progressive Grand Alliance’s (APGA) candidate, Chukwuma Soludo, emerged winner for a second term in office, was marred with massive vote 0buying across severl polling units.
Notable among the vote buying cases captured in a video shared on X was that of a group of voters caught receiving one Gala, a Nigerian brand of sausage roll, and a bottle of coke alongside N3,000 in exchange for their votes.
The video alongside other reported cases of vote buying had since sparked mixed reactions and raised concern over the credibility of the election.
In his reaction in a post shared on his Instagram handle, Fayose expressed his disappointment with the Anambra voters.
He however blamed the current administration for the economic hardship which had left many in Nigerians in abject poverty and hunger.
Fayose warned that failure to address the poverty in the country will see the southern region becoming haven of Almajiris in the next 30 years.
He congratulated Soludo over what he described as his brand-new purchased victory.
“See credible election. They gave them Gala and coke and N3,000. Nobody fight.
“See them. Ndi Anambra, I thought you people are even educated.
“In the next 30 years, states like Southwest, Southeast, Southsouth, will be like Almajiris.
“Na like dis Almajiris started. But they didn’t curb it for years. That is why it has now become a problem.
“Dem don finish us for Africa. See our people. Dem no dey do ballot snatching anymore.
“Nigeria don finish. I no believe say Anambra people sef fit sell their votes.
“But the hunger wey dey now since this government don entre power he don touch Igbo land. How many days Gala go take last for our stomach?
“How many days N3000 go finish? Our people are gone. Congrats Mr. Soludo on your brand-new purchased victory.” Fayose said.
