The Super Falcons of Nigeria has arrived in Lagos with the Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy.
Following a successful WAFCON campaign where they came back from behind against Morocco to clinch the title for the 10th time, the Nigerian women’s national team landed in the country on Monday.
They were firstly received at Abuja where President Bola Tinubu hosted a grand reception for the champions.
The President had at the reception conferred the national honour of the Order of Niger (OON) on the entire team while also gifting them a three-bedroom flat each at the Renewed Hope Estate.
With their homecoming considered incomplete without paying homage to the country’s commercial capital, the Super Falcons landed on Wednesday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, where were received by Lagos State Government officials.
In similar version captured in a post shared on X, the team’s captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, appeared first from the aircraft with the trophy which she raised to excitement of the waiting crowd.
The Super Falcons are set to be received at a grand reception organised by beverage drinks Amstel and Goldberg.
