The United States has said that the 2023 general elections in the country not only mean for the country but the entire world.
The electoral umpire in the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has scheduled this year’s general elections for Feb. 25th for the Presidential and National Assembly elections while the governorship and House of Assembly Elections will hold on March 11th, 2023 respectively.
However, while identifying with Nigeria over the forthcoming general elections in the country in a video shared via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, the United States restated their commitment to a peaceful election in the country.
“The United States stands with the Nigerian people as they prepare to make their voices heard by voting in general elections on February 25. We do not support any individual candidate for office, but we strongly support free, fair, and peaceful elections.
“Nigeria’s constitution like America’s begins with simple and profound idea: we the people. And during this election, you people of Nigeria have a choice to make your voices heard, to choose your future.
“United States does not support any individual for office but we strongly support a peaceful election that reflect the will of the people of Nigeria because free and fair elections in Nigeria help create a freer and fairer world for everyone.
“This election matters, not only to Nigerians, but to the rest of the world. We’re invested in your success. Our shared democratic futures depend on it.”
The US mission urged Nigerians to prepare to vote adding that their voice matters.
