President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended his scheduled trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, as he awaits security briefings on the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State.
Recall that NPO reported that the President was expected to depart Abuja for the 20th G20 Summit before proceeding to the 7th AU–EU Summit
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the decision follows an urgent request from the Kwara State Government.
President Tinubu has directed the military and police authorities to deploy additional personnel to Eruku as well as other parts of the Ekiti Local Government Area, with directives to track down the perpetrators responsible for the church attack.
The President is also awaiting detailed reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi State on his behalf, as well as assessments from the police and the Department of State Services on the Kwara attack.
Reaffirming his position, President Tinubu charged security agencies to intensify efforts toward the safe rescue of the 24 abducted Kebbi schoolgirls,
According to him, bringing the children home remains an urgent national priority.
