A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has reportedly been killed by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Kogi State.
According to reports, the cleric was stabbed multiple times along the Ajaokuta Road on Wednesday, before his body was later found dumped by the roadside.
Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, and was a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.
Until his d+ath, he served as the priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and security authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement on the killing.
The Catholic Diocese of Lokoja confirmed his death in an official statement, urging priests, religious faithful, and the laity to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.

The Diocese also appealed for prayers for strength and consolation for his aged parents, siblings, parishioners, and the entire Diocese of Lokoja as they mourn the tragic loss.
Investigations into the incident are expected to continue as authorities work to determine those responsible for the killing.
