Alleges Plot to Make Election Inconclusive
Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission to stop further collation of Saturday’s governorship election.
“Sen president Akpabio has called the coalition center that they should stop coalition!!!!” Davido said in a tweet.
Earlier he had alleged that there is a plan to inflate the number of void votes in the Osun governorship election in a bid to force the election into an inconclusive outcome.
Davido, who is supporting his uncle and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, made the allegation in a series of posts on X on Saturday as the election entered the results and collation stage.
The singer also alleged that suspected APC thugs had invaded GOF Junction in Osogbo to disrupt the results from Wards 4 and 5.
According to Davido, the alleged attackers were attempting to destroy ballot papers and ballot boxes after seeing signs of defeat.
“Osun APC thugs have invaded GOF junction, Osogbo to disrupt ward 4 and 5 results. They have seen defeat and they are now trying to destroy ballot papers and boxes. Osogbo people will resist them,” he wrote.
In another post, Davido alleged that the new plan was to increase the number of void votes so that the election could be declared inconclusive.
“Osun people, their new plan now is to inflate number of void votes so they can declare the election inconclusive,” he alleged.
He urged voters to remain vigilant at their polling units, stressing that the election was approaching a crucial stage.
“Please shine your eyes at your PU! Don’t loose guard o. We are close to victory and this is the most important part!” he wrote.
Davido also called on APC governors to withdraw their security escorts from Osun,
