Senate President Godswill Akpabio has charged the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Osun state governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, to ensure that Osun’s fund is well utilised with infrastructural development after being elected on Saturday.
Akpabio gave the charge during his address at the APC’s mega rally in Osogbo on Thursday.
Representing President Bola Tinubu at the event, the Senate President charged Oyebamiji to ensure that Tinubu’s reform is reflected in Osun in terms of development of public infrastructures.
‘On a personal note, I don’t like the road that I saw. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has brought transformation to Nigeria in all facets of life.
‘No state government today is owing salary. No state government is owing money for project. Enough money is coming to the state.
‘Osun should be better than what I’ve seen. On the road between Ibadan and here, even the potholes are not fixed. AMBO you must immediately show the difference.
‘As soon as you are elected on Saturday, once you are sworn-in, you must begin a progressive project.
‘Use Osun money for Osun people. Transform the infrastructure and join us in the centre to ensure that Nigeria is transformed.
‘You must transform Osun state. You must show the people that development is part and parcel of politics, that what they need is dividends of democracy. They don’t need social media.’ Akpabio said.
Addressing the crowd of supporters, the Senate President urged Osun residents to come out en masse and vote. He assured them of peaceful conduct.
He said Tinubu has made necessary provisions for the safety of all electorates at the poll.
‘This is my own word, if you are on a bush track and you are escorted by a lion, you cannot be afraid of goat.
‘The president is saying please he has put in place enough security in place. Nobody is going to be harassed. And this point out to the fact that he believes truly in democratic government.
‘This is a man who has been fighting for democracy. Today, God has placed his as our leader and president.
‘For the good people of Osun state, feel free to go out and exercise your franchise.’ He said.
While reiterating the President’s plea for voters’ turnout at the poll, Akpabio urged Osun people to vote wisely as he harped on the need to connect the state with the Federal Government.
‘Feel free to go out and ensure you vote the candidate of your choice.
‘But my advice to you is to choose wisely. There is need for you to link Osun state to the centre.
‘Over 30 governors are already in APC. We are waiting for Osun. Please don’t feel intimidated.
‘Social media is not the same thing as polling unit. Go to the polling units, you will not be molested.
‘I know that in Osun state, the APC is dominant. I know that with people like Chief Bisi Akande, the National leader of our party, people like Oyetola, the former governor and now Minister of Blue Economy; people like Senator Omisore, Fadahunsi, and lot of others.
‘Fadahunsi is one of the most important Senators we have in Nigeria and Oyinlola is part of us.’ He said.
