Favour Rhoda, the woman whose only son was killed in Sunday’s attack by gunmen at Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State has charged deceased victim to avenge his death as she placed a cutlass in his coffin.
NPO Reported that the gunmen had on Sunday evening stormed the community and opened fire at the residents, killing over 28 people with several others injured.
Caught in the fierce gunfire was Aliyu, Rhoda’s eldest child and only son.
The deceased and his mother would capture the attention of netizens following an aftermath video showing capturing an emotional moment Rhoda sat on the bare floor, clinging on the body of her dead son.
The video showed her speaking to her son as she parted his cheeks in a bid to wake him.
Rhoda’s video also drew the attention of President Bola Tinubu who on Thursday singled her out and condoled her during his brief visit to the state.
Tinubu disclosed seeing the video of the woman and her late son in what he described as emotional and heartbreaking.
He assured that his administration will see how she can be comforted and assisted over the death of her son identified as Ayuba.
“I take, for example, Favour Rhoda. I know the pain.
“I see how on the video, you held on to Ayuba and the pain and agony in your heart.
“But is only God who can give you joy and comfort. No amount of money can pay all of you aback.
“Yes, as government, we will try our best to comfort and work with you. The best solution is for Jos to be Jos. The one that people like us grew up to know.” The President said.
Following the President’s visit, the body of Aliyu was laid to rest with a video showing moment his mother place a cutlass in his coffin while invoking his spirit to avenge his death.
