The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has paid a courtesy visit to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Secretariat following his faction’s takeover of the Wadata Plaza in Abuja.
NPO Reported that the Wike-backed faction of the PDP had on Monday renovated the secretariat following its unsealing by the police.
The control of the party’s head office had been subject to litigation battle between the faction, which had Abdulrahman Mohammed as its National Chairman, and the Tanimu Turaki-led faction.
The Mohammed-led faction would however claim ownership of the Wadata Plaza days after holding its National Convention, announcing planned takeover of the complex.
With the police unsealing the headquarters, the Wike-backed faction assumed office at the Wadata Plaza.
The FCT Minister paid a courtesy visit to the faction’s National Working Committee (NWC) at the headquarters on Friday.
As captured in a video shared on X by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike was received by the NWC members who filed out to welcome the Minister as he stepped out of his car.
He would proceed to hold a meeting with the faction’s leadership in the headquarters.
Meanwhile, the unsealing of the PDP National headquarters had strongly been protested by the Turaki-led faction.
The faction described the unsealing of the property as contemptuous.
Its Spokesman, Ini Ememobong, maintained that the judgment cited by the police as basis for the unsealing had been appealed and that all parties were duly informed.
“By this action, they have tampered with the res, which could render the Court of Appeal judgment nugatory,” Ememobong said.
