Accuses Adeleke of Hiding Thugs in Govt House
- Safiu Kehinde
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed the Accord Party over its allegation against the APC candidate for the 2026 Governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji.
Accord was reported to have accused Oyebamiji engagement with political hoodlums ahead of the gubernatorial election.
Reacting in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC refuted the claim, labelling it a frivolous allegation.
Olabisi held that the allegation was borne out of fear of Oyebamiji’s imminent victory at the poll.
“The frivolous allegation of the invisible and non-existing but a mere make-believe campaign organisation of Governor Adeleke that our credible and focused governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, in the 15th August, 2026 governorship election has been fraternising with hoodlums in the state is misplaced, uncalled for and lacking in proper reasoning.
“The verifiably failed political entities in the Accord Party have the notion that the major opposition political party in the state has a violence squad that deals with the real and perceived political means through the invocation of extra-judicial means as such a violence squad is an integral part of their party and the government in the state.
“Having a cursory analysis of the reasons for the paranoid state of the handlers of the Accord Party against the APC governorship candidate in Osun State, we pointedly come to terms with the fact that it was borne out of the fear of unknown with reference to the forthcoming governorship election which our governorship candidate is contesting to win resoundingly and not as a mere pretender.” He said.
The Osun spokesperson further labelled the Accord Party’s allegation a paradox, alleging that the party is known for promotion and execution of violent activities across the state.
Olabisi recalled violent attacks allegedly orchestrated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the buildup to the 2022 gubernatorial election.
“It is paradoxical for the Accord Party handlers who are known as the promoters and executors of all manner of known violent political activities in the state, which have become their insignia to be accusing our peace-loving governorship candidate, AMBO, of harbouring political thugs for the election.
“It is expedient to remind the armful leftover of the Accord Party members that the memory of the people of the state is not so weak to the extent of forgetting easily how the leaders of the dead and buried Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) used maximum violence to secure a pyrrhic victory in the 2022 controversial governorship, national and House of Assembly elections before and during the election.” He said.
Th Osun APC spokesperson alleged that over 30 members of the APC were killed with a pregnant woman and three others members of her family also losing their lives.
Olabisi also recalled the Akinlalu community attack last year which claimed the lives of several residents.
“The gory incidents of the needless murder of no fewer than 30 of the members and supporters of our party by the PDP hired killers out of whom 17 were from Ijesaland are still resonating in the subconscious of those who lost their loved ones in the state.
“How about the four members of the same family including a pregnant woman who were wickedly killed in Ede, the hometown of Governor Adeleke, by the then PDP goons, is still fresh in the memory of the discerning minds in the state and beyond.
“The Akinlalu killings of some of the innocent natives of the ancient town in the Ife-North Local Government Council Area of Osun State by the Adeleke goons operating under the auspices of the heavily compromised Amotekun Corps are still fresh in the memory of the peace-loving people of the state.
“Will someone out there remind us what has been keeping in Abuja, the heavily compromised Adeleke’s former Chief Security Officer(CSO) who was later transferred to the Osun Amotekun Corps as its technical head, for close to one year?” He ased.
Olabisi thereafter accused the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, of hiding thugs at the government’s house.
“It is worthwhile to educate and remind the faceless and non-existing Adeleke Campaign Organisation that the state Government House, Osogbo, has become a haven for the police wanted hardened criminals who are being shielded from arrest by the state government based on the constitutional immunity.
“Based on the cited instances of the extra-judicial killings traceable to the Governor Adeleke-led administration since its inception, it would not be wrong to observe and conclude that the Government House under Governor Adeleke has become a refuge for those who are fugitive to justice as opposed to the sing-song of the unknown Adeleke Campaign Committee which is only existing on paper.” He added.
