The 2027 African Democratic Congress Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has charged the party’s governorship candidates to ensure that they deliver their respective states for the party at the forthcoming general election.
Atiku gave the charge while speaking during a dinner with the candidates in Abuja on Tuesday evening.
The former Vice President who congratulated the candidates for their emergence as the ADC’s flagbearers maintained that there are several activities ahead of them as they seek to deliver their states for the party.
‘It is a matter of joy individually for emerging as governorship candidate of your respective states.
‘But it is going to be much more joyous when you eventually emerge as elected governors of your respective states.
‘This gathering is to welcome you to the club prospective governors. There are activities ahead of us in the next few months.
‘We have to deliver victory in your respective states and your party because this party has given us the opportunity to realise our individual and collective ambitions.
‘Therefore, we should not take it lightly. It is a privilege that some others have tried to get but they couldn’t make it.’ He said.
Atiku further charged the governorship candidates to do all they can to ensure the party’s takeover of the helm of affairs in their respective states.
‘I will therefore appeal to you passionately to put everything you can possibly put because this government has to be changed in the interest of the people of the state.
‘I can assure you that if you win in your various states, we will that into consideration to make sure that your various cabinet are gender friendly.’ He said.
Also speaking at the gathering, the running mate of the ADC Presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, harped on the need to ensure that the party wins all the governorship election as he objected chances of the party accepting defecting governors from the All Progressives Congress.
‘This January 16 election, see it as your own election. We will not encourage governors moving from APC to ADC. We want our own governors.’ He said.
