Encomia showered on Saturday in Lagos as the Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun said former Force Public Relations Officer Olusola Amore left a legacy of service in the force.
Egbetokun spoke in Lagos at the 70th birthday anniversary of former Force Spokesman who is currently Chairman of the NPF Pension Limited.
The IGP, who said that Amore is his first cousin and indeed made him join the police, said the retired officer touched many lives.
“I also had the privilege, after secondary school, of attending all the schools he attended. He is my role model.
“He was the one who encouraged me to join the Police. I can remember the day he handed over the cadet form for me to fill and submit.

“I can recall as a young officer, ASP, I was serving in the State’s CID, with one Mr. Olokodana. I handled a case, and he told me, he said this is one of the most descent Police officers.
“He said the first descent Police officer I met is the DPO of Bode Thomas. And at that time, who was the DPO of Bode Thomas? It was Olusola Amore.
“I told him that yes he is my brother. And this man said yes no wonder. I can see the resemblance. I can see the way you do your job just like him.
“So, that is the legacy that Olusola Amore left. The legacy of integrity, of transparency, of professionalism, and discipline.” Egbetokun said.
He further expressed his gratitude to the former Police spokesperson for his significant impact to members of the Force.
“We thank him and appreciate him for the significant impact. On behalf of everyone that he has touched their lives, I say thank you so much. I pray that God will continue to bless you.” Egbetokun added.
A former Commissioner of Police Lanre Bankole who also gave testimony at the well-attended event said on his wedding day, Amore had brought the police band to pay only for him to bring police recruitment form the following week asking him to join the police.
The retired police chief said Amore touched so many lives while leaving all with a legacy of service.
