Popular Nigerian broadcaster and founder of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, has declared his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 Oyo State Gubernatorial election.
Hamzat made this known in a post shared on his X handle on Saturday.
The Ibadan-based broadcaster in the post described his declaration as response to the call of Oyo State people who requested that he contest for the election.
A campaign picture attached to the post revealed that Hamzat will be contesting under the umbrella of the Accord Party.
“My good people of Oyo State, your call has been answered. Interesting time ahead.” He wrote.

Recall that the media personality had last year hinted his interest in contesting as he slammed a caller who ruled out his chances of winning.
Speaking on Agidigbo FM’s So Kan Wa Special programme, the caller had advised him against running for political office, warning that popularity is not enough to earn him support.
“Don’t listen to those who are saying Oyo is calling Oriyomi Hamzat. They are only lying,
“Even around your radio station, if politicians bring money, you’ll lose that polling unit. People might like you, but don’t count on their votes.” The caller had advised him.
Responding, Hamzat talked down the pessimistic remark.
He maintained that he was not seeking validation and would not be discouraged by naysayers.
“Don’t say they won’t vote for me. You might even be the one to push me into the race. I have my own brain and I can make decisions,
“If I decide to contest, I will contest, and I will win. Don’t come here telling me I can’t. Do you know the hearts of the people? You’re judging tomorrow by yesterday.” he said.
