A major explosion is believed to have rocked the city of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Monday as the police asked residents to keep safe.
The explosion reportedly occurred in the evening of Monday at the Monday Market where casualties could not be determined at the time of filing this report.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Nahum Kenneth Daso, who is the spokesman for the state command confirmed the incident.
He however could not give any details.

He wrote, “Following reports of a suspected explosion around the Maiduguri Monday Market, joint security operatives and emergency responders have been deployed. Police EOD Unit, Base 13 Maiduguri, is on ground. Residents are advised to remain calm and avoid the area while assessments continue. Further updates shortly.”
