Trolls Atiku with Privatisation Policy
- Safiu Kehinde
President Bola Tinubu has taken a jab at the David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as he made mockery of the opposition party’s National Convention.
Tinubu labelled the convention as a street convention while addressing members of the Renewed Hope Ambassador during an engagement on Thursday.
The President, who expressed readiness for the 2027 election while appreciating the group for their support, accused the ADC of violating court’s order by proceeding with the convention.
“I’m grateful to all of you. This is an opportunity of lifetime to break the shackle of poverty, ignorance. To put freedom in the heart of our people.
“To ensure democracy survives. Not the noise making, not the rascality of a street convention. We cannot submit to disobedience of lawful order.” He said.
Tinubu harped on the need to embrace court’s ruling regardless of whoever it favours.
“We must embrace the judiciary whether it favours us, or it doesn’t.
“We submit to this principle of democracy, separation of power, and understanding of the dynamics of it.” He added.
The President further trolled former Vice President Atiku Abubakar with the privatisation policy he introduced during his tenure under the Olusegun Obasanjo-led administration.
“If you look at it, none of them is without history. The head (Atiku) was the Chairman of the privatisation council of Nigeria.
“They private the steel industry in Delta. Is it working today?
“They privatised Ajaokuta. Is it working today? They privatised another man’s political party, that one says no.”Tinubu said.
