Human right activist, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of deploying strange gas against protesters.
Sowore made the allegation in a post shared on his X handle few hours after collapsing during the June 12 protest in Abuja.
NPO Reported that the activist who led members of his #TakeItBack Movement in the protest against insecurity and bad governance on Friday was allegedly teargassed by security personnel.
Video of the incident posted on X captured moment Sowore slumped as other protesters rallied around to resuscitate him.
Recounting his ordeal shortly after the incident, the 2027 African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate alleged being attacked alongside other protesters with a strange gas.
He claimed that the gas entered his lungs and left him struggling to breathe.
Sowore labelled the attack dangerous tactics used by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to suppress dissent.
“Today, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force deployed a strange gas at the protest ground, at close range which entered my lungs and left me struggling to breathe before I eventually collapsed.
