The Nigerian Army has inducted more than 3,000 recruits at Depot Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi, as part of efforts to strengthen manpower for ongoing security operations nationwide.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Aenele, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Speaking at the Passing out parade at the depot in Ebonyi, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Waidi Shaibu, urged the recruits to uphold discipline, loyalty and professionalism throughout their military careers.
He said the graduation reinforced the army’s manpower capacity under the Federal Government’s efforts to tackle insecurity and strengthen national defence.
The COAS said the exercise followed similar recruit graduations at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, and the newly established training depot in Osogbo, reflecting sustained force generation.
He said the recruits underwent rigorous training designed to prepare them for modern warfare and Nigeria’s evolving security environment.
Shaibu urged them to remain vigilant, disciplined and mission-focused, stressing unwavering loyalty to the Constitution and constituted authority.
He said the nation had invested significantly in their training and expected them to repay that confidence through courage, professionalism and selfless service.
The COAS described the establishment of the Amasiri-Edda Depot as a strategic investment in training infrastructure and manpower development.
He commended the commandant, instructors and support staff for producing competent and combat-ready soldiers for operations across the country.
In his remarks Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, described the depot as a strategic national asset that had enhanced security and stimulated economic activities in the state.
Nwifuru reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Armed Forces and other security agencies to promote peace, stability and development.
The ceremony featured military parades, precision drills and presentation of awards to outstanding recruits.
