Operatives of the Directorate of State Security have reportedly carted away laptops and other documents from the private residence of the negotiator between families of the Kaduna train attacks victims and their abductors, Tukur Mamu.
Operatives had reportedly arrived in his Kaduna residence in the wee hours heavily armed.
Neighbours were said to have been alarmed at the sudden arrival of the security men in more than 15 operational vehicles to carry out a search.
NPO Reports could not confirm if the operatives presented any search warrant.
It was gathered that items carted away from Mamu’s residence include laptops and some other documents.
Mamu was arrested in Cairo, Egypt with his two wives while waiting to connect their flight to Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when they were accosted by men of the Interpol.
It was learnt that Interpol arrested Mamu and his family members on the request of the Nigerian government.
The embattled publisher of the Desert Herald and media consultant to controversial cleric Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, was negotiating release of hostages abducted after the attacks on the Abuja bound Kaduna train earlier this year.
Some ransom had been paid by family members of the hostages.
At some point, Mamu accused the federal government of insincerity and threatened to pull out of all forms of negiations.
