After a revelation that he left Nigeria hurriedly for medical reasons, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has said he left Nigeria on Monday to attend to a private business concern.
This was disclosed in a statement released by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe , who said that Atiku’s trip was on a mission to meet technical partners of one of his business entities.
Earlier, NPO reported that the former Minister of Aviation, and Head of New Media of the Tinubu Campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode alleged that Atiku was flown out of the country for medical treatment.
In a tweet via his verified twitter handle, Fani Kayode said the PDP candidate was flown out of the country.
“After his outing in Kaduna yesterday, Atiku fell ill. He complained of dizzy spells& severe pains in his head& all over his body throughout the flight to Abuja. After landing at Abuja airport he collapsed. He was flown to Paris for medical attention immediately.God be with him.”
He said further that there is something the Atiku campaign does not want Nigerians to know about the heath of the PDP candidate.
“For the purposes of damage control they took pictures of him with others the following morning from Paris but please do not be fooled. There is something very wrong with the PDP pres. candidate in terms of his health & they don’t want the Nigerian public to know. Pray for him.”
Apparently to counter Fani-Kayode’s allegation, Ibe said Atiku’s trip was majorly on a business trip.
He added that the meeting would also focus on his plan to expand his production facility.
“Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has travelled to Europe on business” Ibe said
“The former Vice President travelled last night on a scheduled trip to meet with the technical partners of one his business entities that was impacted by the Covid-19 global lockdown and the consequent economic downturn.
“The meeting will also focus on conclusive discussions for a planned expansion of its production facility,” he added
In a photo earlier released, by campaign spokesman, Dino Melaye, he had said those Atiku were with were foreign media operatives.
