A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State has sacked the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Biyi Otegbeye.
The court also sacked twenty-six party’s state Assembly candidates.
The Labour Party in the state had approached the court asking it to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognize the governorship candidate and others.
In his judgement on Friday, Justice Akintayo Aluko affirmed that the primaries election which produced Otegbeye and others did not comply with the Electoral Act.
Reacting to the judgement, the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) Ogun State Branch described the judgement as a mere distraction which can’t hold water.
In a statement, through its Legal Adviser, Ifenla Oligbinde, said the party’s legal team had been instructed to appeal the said judgements.
According to Oligbinde, the processes through which the ADC candidates emerged were in genuine conformity with the electoral act and the 1999 constitution.
