- How New Postmaster General, Tola Odeyemi Took Over With Soldiers
By Kamil Opeyemi
There seems to be calm at the head office of the Nigerian Postal Service few hours ago in Abuaj as the sacked Postmaster General, Sunday Adepoju finally bowed to “order from above” to leave office for the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Tola Odeyemi.
Workers, who a source told the NPO Reports were instructed to mount a resistance to the resumption by Odeyemi on Monday, had shut the gate of the head office.
Many of them also displayed placards carrying various inscriptions saying Adepoju should not be moved away from the agency.
NPO Reported earlier that Adepoju had told Odeyemi that she needed to see President Bola Tinubu for another appointment saying the president had changed his mind on her appointment.
It was gathered that Adepoju had recieved a final warning from a presidency official who told him to leave the office before noon on Monday.
The call to the sacked Postmaster General was said to have become necessary with the alleged embarrassment.
It was learnt that having seen the resistance put up by some workers of the agency displaying placards, Odeyemi had called for some protection to pave way for her entering the Garki office of the postal organisation.
A source said she was guarded to the office on Monday by some stern looking soldiers to prevent any form of violence.
Less than one hour after the departure of Adepoju from the office, the new CEO, Odeyemi, was driven in a convoy of three black jeeps with the security men.
