Governors of the South West zone of Nigeria have on Tuesday visited their counterpart in Ondo state, Rotimi Akeredolu.
The purpose of the visit, it was gathered, was to show support to the governor, who came into the country weeks ago after months of medical vacation in Germany.
The Ondo state governor has battled with his life in an ailment that has made him to lose weigh considerably.
At his Ibadan residence on Tuesday were the host governor, Rotimi Makinde, Ekiti state governor, Wole Oyebanji and the Ogun state counterpart, Dapo Abiodun and the Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Their visit came amidst calls for Akeredolu to resign or return to his office. There have been controversies over the governor’s decision to govern Ondo state from his Ibadan private residence.
His Deputy, Lucky Ayedatiwa, has come under intense pressure as the State House of Assembly has made moves to impeach him. Analysts believe the insistence by the House to impeach Ayedatiwa was hinged on the fact that the Speaker of the House will step in in the case of any eventuality.
A meeting presided over by the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Umar Ganduje, had stayed action on the move by the state lawmakers.
