Nine people were confirmed dead, while seven others sustained various degree of injuries in an accident involving a truck and a Mazda bus at Kere Bridge on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
Confirming the accident to newsmen today Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson in Ogun, Mrs Florence Okpe said that the incident occurred at 8:00 a.m., caused by speeding and route violations, which led to a head-on collision between a truck, without a registration number and another bus, marked SMK 808 YD.
She stated that a total of 17 persons were involved, comprising seven men, nine women, and one female child.
“Unfortunately, nine persons were recorded dead from the crash, comprising five men and four women,”
The FRSC spokesperson added that the injured victims had been taken to the General Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta, while the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
She cautioned motorists against route violations and speeding, noting the enormous dangers associated with the two offences.
