Reinstated Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has resumed office after court’s reinstatement.
The Deputy Governor made this known in a video shared on his X handle on Monday.
Addressing Edo State people, Shaibu recalled how he was reinstated as well as the failed assassination attempt on him.
“In recent weeks, the Federal High Court in Abuja reinstated me as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, acknowledging the illegality of the impeachment.
“Upon my arrival in Benin, a tragic event occured as an assassination attempt was made on my life. Thankfully, the bullet missed its mark.” He said.
While affirming the arrest of suspects attached to the assassination attempt, Shaibu disclosed that his attempt to reinstate his aides are yet to be approved by the state governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The video where Shaibu spoke on his X handle is shared below:
“I’ve been informed that several suspects have been arrested, some of who have provided crucial statements. Following my return to office, I have formerly requested the governor’s approval for the reinstatement of my aides. However, I’m yet to receive a response from him.” He added.
Meanwhile, Shaibu has issued directive to members of staff attached to the Deputy Governor’a office to resume work or face sanctions.
He, however, declared all transactions done through his office in his absence as illegal and of no effect.
