The Osun State Police Command has released the Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Adejoorin, after detaining him for almost 24 hours.
The development was confirmed to NPO Reports by the police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, on Sunday
NPO Reports recalls that Adejoorin was arrested over his alleged connection to the attack on the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ilesa West Local Government Area of Osun State.
The incident involved a team of Amotekun operatives allegedly led by Adewale Akerele, the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly.
According to reports, Akerele arrived at the campaign ground in a black Toyota vehicle with registration number OSHA 04, accompanied by five Amotekun personnel.
Sporadic gunfire was subsequently reported at the scene, leaving three people injured.
Two other victims, identified as Wasiu Alanide and Aderemi Adedeji, were also reportedly injured, with Alanide sustaining an injury to his hand and Adedeji sustaining an injury to his leg.
