The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has held free medical checkup for the victims of Maiduguri flood while also distributing relief items to victims in other parts of the country.
This was disclosed in a post on the Agency’s official X handle on Wednesday.
According to the post, the Agency’s North East Emergency Medical Response Team conducted medical outreach at internally displaced persons camp for the flood victims in Maiduguri.
Meanwhile, the agency’s Abuja Operations Office (AOO) in collaboration with the Kogi SEMA carried out a direct distribution of Approved Federal Government Relief materials to persons affected by Rain/Windstorm disaster in 8 communities in Lokoja LGA, Kogi State.
The Director General NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar who was represented by the Head AOO, comrade Justin Uwazuruonye commiserated with the government and the victims over the unfortunate incident and advised them to be their brother’s keeper. He also extended the DGs message of moving up to higher ground as the rains are still in effect
As contained in a statement issued on NEMA’s X handle, Uwazuruonye further noted that Disaster Management is everybody’s business therefore, citizens are enjoined to imbibe the culture and engage in activities that are geared towards Disaster Risk Reduction as this will help to mitigate against the adverse effects of disasters.
The benefiting communities include Owara, Ogabon, Agbaja, Aseni, Kupa, Chikara, Kpata and Otube
