Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reacted to a viral video of some residents of Osogbo, the state’s capital, inspecting the ongoing Oke Fia flyover construction.
In an effort to confirm the criticism surrounding the flyover, the group of residents had inspected the bridge.
As against claim that lanes on the bridge were narrow, the residents used a tape rule to measure each lane which were both 18.2 feet wide respectively according to them.
They held that the average width of a vehicle is 7 feet which implies that each lane can accommodate two vehicles and motorcycles.
“This is 18.2 feet. It means it can accommodate two vehicles as a vehicle is 7 feet wide. Even motorcycles will also have enough space between the two vehicles.” One of the residents explained in Yoruba before measuring the other lane which also had same measurement.
The residents would thereafter take a walk across the stretch of the bridge which confirmed to be longer than expected, comparing it to the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal highway as they heaped praises to the Adeleke.
They endorsed him for second term while calling out the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their criticism of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration.
They also charged the Federal Government to release the seized Local Government allocations.
Reacting to the residents’ inspection of the bridge, Adeleke, in a post on his X handle on Sunday expressed his delight with their findings.
The video, according to him, dispelled rumours surrounding the construction.
Adeleke urged the residents to allow the contractors complete and certify the project before plying it.
“I have received this viral clip of Osogbo residents inspecting and commenting on the quality of work being delivered by the Imole administration at the Oke Fia flyover, Osogbo.
“It brings me immense joy to see our people coming out in large numbers to dispel the rumors being spread by those determined to hinder the progress of Osun State.
“While I deeply appreciate this unfiltered and honest assessment from the public, I appeal to the good people of Osun to allow the contractors to fully complete and certify the project as safe before making use of it.
“Thank you for your continued support and attention to this matter.” He wrote.
