The Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, was on Friday besieged by supporters of former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, ahead of his arrival in Lagos.
NPO Reported that the ex-Osun governor and former All Progressives Congress’ (APC) was on Wednesday unveiled as the interim National Secretary of the new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition party.
Aregbesola had alongside other members of the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) adoption of the ADC months after his withdrawal of his membership from the APC.

The former Minister of Interior’s withdrawal from the APC also saw his teeming Omoluabi Progressives supporters withdrew from the ruling party.
With the announcement of Aregbesola as the ADC National Secretary, members of the Omoluabi Progressives and his supporters in Lagos also joined the ADC.
This was evident in a couple of Facebook videos recorded at the MMA on Friday evening.
As captured in one of the video before Aregbesola’s arrival, a massive crowd donning the ADC branded cap spread across the airport road as they await the ex-Osun governor’s arrival.
Following his arrival the supporters cheered him with musical band as he walked to car park.
He however addressed the crowd before departing the airport.
Speaking in Yoruba, Aregbesola explained reason behind his defection.
“We are not fighting anyone. We are friends of the citizens. We are friends for of masses. We are not happy that the masses are suffering. And we realized that the only way to rescue the masses from poverty and hardship is to join forces with this coalition party.
“Don’t abuse or fight anybody. If they abuse you, just ask them whether today is better than yesterday or yesterday was better than today? Is it the same price a bag of rice was brought yesterday is what we buy today?
Are people at peace today than yesterday? So, we decide to stand and give our people assuring hope and a better future. That’s why we join the coalition to liberate our people.” Aregbesola said.
