Kingmakers Announce Balogun New Olubadan Kingmakers in Ibadan, on Wednesday announced their decision to follow tradition and make the next in line in the hierarchy Dr. Lekan Balogun the new Olubadan. Osi Balogun of Ibadanland Tajudeen Ajibola announced this at a briefing by the kingmakers on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Ten of the 11 members of the Olubadan-in-Council endorsed the Balogun’s nomination. The Presidency, on Wednesday said it has granted an exclusive interview to one of the leading television stations in the country, Channels Television. A statement by Femi Adesina, presidential media adviser, said the interview will be aired at 7pm on Wednesday while another interview with the President will be aired on the Nigerian Television Authority on Thursday at 8pm. The President had granted an exclusive interview to the Arise Television last year.
Breaking! Lagos First Female Deputy Speaker Dies A former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Toun Adediran, has died. About 24 hours after the demise of the Olu of Olode, Oba David Omisore, another traditional ruler, the Olupo of Oluponna, has died. Oba Emmanuel Onaolapo Oyebanji, Fadare 11 reportedly died in the early hours of Wednesday. Oluponna is in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State. As at the time of filing this report, details of the demise were still sketchy as the palace has kept mom over the development. A Chief Superintendent of Police on Tuesday stubbornly refused instructions from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to call his superiors and tell them that the detachment of policemen deployed in Magodo estate had no business being there. The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), in partnership with Google DigitalSkill, alongside MindtheGap, is to train 3,700 Nigerian youths on digital skills. A statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by SEMDAN’s Information and Communications Department, said that the training is targeted at Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Governor of Imo, Hope Uzodinma, on Tuesday appealed to former Governor Rochas Okorocha to allow him concentrate on governing the state. At least, four inmates of the Ife medium custodial centre were allegedly killed on Tuesday after they attempted a break from the centre. It was learnt that inmates were having their weekly environmental sanitation exercise when some of the inmates made to leave the centre forcefully. However, luck ran out of the inmates as warders confronted them in collaboration with other sister security agencies around the custodial centre.
