Kingmakers Announce Balogun New Olubadan Kingmakers in Ibadan, on Wednesday announced their decision to follow tradition and make the next in line in the hierarchy Dr. Lekan Balogun the new Olubadan. Osi Balogun of Ibadanland Tajudeen Ajibola announced this at a briefing by the kingmakers on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. The Presidency, on Wednesday said it has granted an exclusive interview to one of the leading television stations in the country, Channels Television. A statement by Femi Adesina, presidential media adviser, said the interview will be aired at 7pm on Wednesday while another interview with the President will be aired on the Nigerian Television Authority on Thursday at 8pm. The President had granted an exclusive interview to the Arise Television last year.

About 24 hours after the demise of the Olu of Olode, Oba David Omisore, another traditional ruler, the Olupo of Oluponna, has died. Oba Emmanuel Onaolapo Oyebanji, Fadare 11 reportedly died in the early hours of Wednesday. Oluponna is in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State. A Chief Superintendent of Police on Tuesday stubbornly refused instructions from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to call his superiors and tell them that the detachment of policemen deployed in Magodo estate had no business being there. At least, four inmates of the Ife medium custodial centre were allegedly killed on Tuesday after they attempted a break from the centre. It was learnt that inmates were having their weekly environmental sanitation exercise when some of the inmates made to leave the centre forcefully.
