A Lagos-based journalist, Olalekan Fakoyejo, has emerged as the latest vicitm of assault on journalists as he was brutalised by soldiers in Ikeja, the state’s capital city.
This is coming barely a day after the celebration of World Press Freedom where stakeholders called for an end to brutality against journalists.
As captured in a video shared on Facebook on Monday, Fakoyejo was physically assaulted by two uniformed soldiers over traffic dispute.
The Cable Assistant Editor was roughly shoved by the soldiers who were wielding canes and and planks.
One of the soldiers attempted to hit the journalist with the plank before the intervention of passersby and other onlookers.
The ugly scene had again raised concern over the assault of journalist by government officials, security agencies and other state actors.
