Two teenage voters at the ongoing 2026 Ekiti Governorship Election, have revealed alleged vote-buying scheme at their polling unit.
The teenagers, captured in a video recorded at an undisclosed polling unit, revealed being promised an undisclosed amount if they voted.
Speaking in Yoruba, one of the teenagers said his father directed him to go and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
We came to vote for our father BAO Oyebanji. It is my Dad that said I should come and vote.
“They said they will give us money and that is why I came to vote. I don’t know how much they want to give us.” He said.
The second teenager disclosed that he followed his mother to the polling unit with same promise of being paid after voting.
“My Mummy said I should come and vote. They said there is something they will give us after voting.” He said.
The development had again raised concern over the spate of vote-buying at the ongoing election.
